Adopt A Family
Heading into the holidays each year, our Adopt-A-Family program provides wish list items to hundreds of children, from newborns to teens. Individual donors or businesses generously “adopt” a family and purchase requested clothing and “special gifts”—often a toy—for each local child. Thanks to the commitment and generosity of our local community, Adopt-A-Family brings the Cape together to ensure that children and families in need have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with joy.
The well-publicized program, nearing its 30th year, helps our broader, growing, local community better understand the role of HPC and the services we provide.
Now in its 27th year, Adopt A Family is a signature HPC program that makes sure children and families in need have an opportunity to celebrate the holidays with joy.
Here's how you can help:
-
Be matched with ("adopt") a family to shop for. You can pair up with families with multiple children or a family with just one child. You commit to purchase clothing and gift items from the family's wishlist (about $200 per child);
-
Donate to HPC and our Holiday Shoppers will make purchases for you;
-
Contribute to the Adopt A Family Bike Fund (about $150 for each bike-and-helmet combo);
-
Purchase a gift card that can be used to fulfill a child's gift request and/or buy grocery gift cards to allow families to widen their holiday celebrations.
To "Adopt" A Family contact Christina, our Special Programs & Volunteer Coordinator, at (508) 255-9667 x 160 or via email. We will be in touch to match you with a family and to discuss the other options outlined above.
We will begin collecting your gifts starting November 15th at our HPC Holiday Workshop at Skaket Corners, 9 West Road, in Orleans (former Olympia Sports store).
